In a word, the belt making course was ‘Charming’……

We were lead expertly through the belt making process by the hospitable Rowan, who dropped in gems of knowledge as well as friendly offers of cups of tea along the way. Rowan’s craft and passion is palpable and mirrored in the design and feel of the boat that the course was hosted on.

Not only did I leave with a stylish belt, but with a burning desire to embark on a passion project of my own – I look forward to doing the course again, perhaps in the summer when I can take full advantage of the deck.

Guided by the knowledgeable and welcoming Rowan, we were taken through the intricacies of leather crafting with ease. Rowans deep expertise and genuine passion for the craft were evident, as she shared valuable tips and fascinating insights throughout the process. The back deck , filled with the rich scent of leather and natural light, created an inviting and inspiring atmosphere.

I walked away with a beautifully crafted belt, but more importantly, with a newfound appreciation for the art of leatherwork. I’m already looking forward to returning, perhaps in the cooler months when the workshop has a cozy, Winter feel .

What a wonderful birthday gift and rewarding experience. Under the clear guidance of the enthusiastic and very experienced Rowan, I have made my very own belt. This will be a constant reminder of a rare visit to London.

All the quality materials needed were supplied and close supervision ensured a

successful lesson - on a seriously stylish boat in central London, great course would highly recommend.

I learned a great deal about the material, myself and so much more during the workshop. Rowan's mastery shines through in how she shares her knowledge and skill, her ability to direct and motivate novices (like myself) towards patience, focus and quality output is astounding. If getting back to the elements is what you crave, this is it. There is something deeply rewarding about slowing time down through absorption in a creative endeavour, especially so when the chaos of London rushes by as I attempted to tame my ego through the delicate art of making.

In addition to taking away a stylish accessory, new skills, I've also taken away an experiential knowledge of the core philosophy underpinning a good life: creativity and time in nature are essential elements, poignant too as an antidote to the disposable, fast-moving, excessive and instant ways of our times and the city.
